N Gauge Permanent Layout |
|
Work in progress on the Coopers Creek area of the N gauge layout in August 2000. The scene now depicts a typical southwestern NSW branchline passing loop in the late 1960s/early 1970s. New pine plantations and sheep are the main industries in this area. The stock yards in the foreground have been constructed in situ from brass; the race was constructed separately from soldered brass and code 40 rail and then glued in place. Still to be positioned is the huge eucalyptus providing shade for the cattle in the main yard. Blackberry bushes will be planted among the rocks on the right. Wire fences will define the surrounding farm paddocks and sheep and cattle will populate them. The final rust and dust colours have still to be applied to the races. Once the facings of the stock races, loading bank and passenger platform have been painted, the track will be ballasted with fine, mottled ash. Coarser grass texture and bushes will be added. For the flurry of activity that precedes the arrival of the train, people and vehicles will complete the scene. Scenery by Glenn Watson. Structures scratchbuilt by David Bennett. Backdrop painted by Val Bennett. Trees, yards and races by Neil Watson. |
